DISCOVER THE JOURNEY
At Journey, we will always recognize that all people seeking God, through Christ, are at different places in their faith “journey.” We want everyone seeking Jesus to know that we will faithfully commit to you as you follow what He said in Matt. 7:7 “ask and it will be given you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” So we welcome anyone at any point on their journey and will help you in your spiritual progress.
In keeping with this statement, knowing that in essential beliefs there is unity, there are foundational beliefs that we have as a body seeking God’s will as God’s people.
OUR FOUNDATIONAL BELIEFS
We believe in the one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as revealed in the Holy Bible and made known in and through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Rms. 1:1-7; Heb 1:1-3)
We believe that Jesus is the divine Son, became human, was born of a virgin, ministered in word and miracle, died for our sins, was raised bodily from the dead, ascended to God’s right hand and is coming again for His people to live eternally. (Matt. 1:18-25; Phil. 2:6-11; Acts 2:32; Heb. 1:3; 1 Thess. 4:13-18)
We believe that the Holy Spirit is presently ministering through the Christian community, empowering lives of godliness and service. (Rms. 5:1-5; 8:1-4; 12:3-8; Acts 2:17-19, 38; 1 Cor 3:16; 6:11,19; 12:3-14)
We believe that the Holy Bible is completely God-breathed true in all its teaching, and the final authority for all matters of faith and practice. (2 Tim. 3:15-17)
We believe that Jesus Christ established His Church on earth to carry out His saving mission among all ethnic groups and formed her to be One Holy People. (Rms 1:16-17; 10:14-15; 16:25-27; Matt. 16:18; 1Cor. 1:2; Eph. 3:10)
We believe in God’s saving grace that calls forth from all people: faith, repentance, confession, baptism (believer’s immersion), new life, and ministry in Christ through the Holy Spirit. (Rms. 3:21-27; 5:6-11; 6:1-14; 8:1-4; 10:8-13; 12:1-2)
We believe that true life is found in God through Jesus Christ and that God is eternally committed to this relationship, expecting the same from us. (Rms.8:31-39; John 10:28-30; Hebrews 6:4-20; 10:1-39)
